Blooming Human Organ Sculptures

Eye Heart Spleen by Camila Carlow is Made Out of Plants & Flowers

Eye Heart Spleen by Camila Carlow, a Guatemalan-born artist based in Bristol, England, is an art series that pays tribute to some of the most important parts of the human body: its internal organs. Constructed from plants and flowers, it brings attention to these often grotesquely portrayed organs in beautiful way through plants and flowers.

Comprised of 13 sculptures in total, Eye Heart Spleen by Camila Carlow also comments on nature. Like nature, human organs work way effortlessly and unnoticed. Carlow writes, "[P]lants flourishing in the urban environment are a testament to nature’s indifference to our goings on. They grow out of the sides of buildings, in brick walls and between the cracks in concrete, despite of the traffic and pollution." Organs work in spite of unhealthy habits as well.
