Scaly Skin Seating

The Exocarp Chair by Guillermo Bernal is Inspired by Reptiles

The Exocarp Chair looks like something that would be found on an alien ship. The organic shape has a scaly texture running down its back that make it look more like life form than a piece of furniture. Of course, the complexity of the design is completely commendable, if slightly creepy at the same time. This is not surprising since the Exocarp Chair was inspired by the skin of reptils as well as rough exterior of foods like cantaloupes and avocados.

Created by industrial designer and architect Guillermo Bernal, the Exocarp Chair does have an interesting contrast between smooth and rough parts. All the areas that make contact with the human body is exceptionally smooth.
Like a sculptural art piece, the Exocarp Chair will add an artistic flair to any living space.
