Etran Plans to Launch a 3D-Printed Transportation Fleet in Thailand

Thailand-based start-up Etran Group has plans to launch a 3D-printed taxi transport service of electric scooters and motorcycles that will operate throughout Bangkok. This new fleet of vehicles created with additive manufacturing is set to help improve the safety, cost and environmental concerns of getting around the city.

The design of the 3D-printed motorcycles, called Etran Proms, are said to cut the usual fuel costs in half, which has the potential to increase the amount of income that a driver will receive.

Currently, Etran is hoping to raise money for funding this new venture and has hopes of getting its first 3D-printed vehicles on the road by the end of 2017. From there, it also envisions expanding its fleet in Bangkok in 2018 and potentially even introducing them to other cities and countries in 2019.
