Etched Glass Designs by Angela Palmer Look Like 3D Sketches of CT Scans

Angela Palmer uses layers of glass panels to compose her series of etched glass designs entitled 'Life Lines.' She uses MRI and CT scans that she the traces onto the glass pieces.

Layered on top of each other, the etchings become line drawings that seem to be floating within their glass cages, as though they have become 3D designs. This effect is a cool way of combining scientific inquiry into the body and brain with experimental art and illustration. The dimensional images are comparable to topography maps with lines delineating depth and shading areas with their wire-like appearance for a crosshatched texture.

The etched glass designs by Angela Palmer take on a life of their own within the layers of glass that frame and confine them.
