The Erin Mulvehill 'Underwater' Series is Disturbingly Peaceful

One on the most commonly shared fears is the fear of drowning. I have to agree the thought is pretty terrifying so I'm actually amazed to find the Erin Mulvehill 'Underwater' photo series somewhat peaceful.

I'm no sadist but there is an air of tranquility to these images, even in the ones in which the subject is aware of her predicament. At the same time, the mist-covered water scares the crap out of me. The marriage of peace and terror is a testament to the genius of the Erin Mulvehill Underwater project.
