Madeline Continues to Grow her EPS [Expanded Polystyrene] Series

Designer Madeline Isakson made her debut in New York during WantedDesign's Launch Pad as she continues to grow her ongoing EPS [Expanded Polystyrene] Series. The exhibition uses found styrofoam and aluminum materials that Isakson creates which she explains as 'monolithic detritus. She continues to explain that "The goal of this series is to rethink the possibilities of what we formerly considered ‘trash’ and create a new domestic aesthetic that sees beauty and humor in the mundane."

The pieces are all sculptural yet functional with cast aluminum that makes up the negative space. Other elements are added including the LED light and seat cushion to serve more purposes. Isakson continues to explain sustainable design, noting "We are all aware of the problems created by our culture of consumerism. The goal of this series is to rethink the possibilities of what we formerly considered ‘trash’ and create a new domestic aesthetic that sees beauty and humor in the mundane."
