Senior Shipping Container Homes

Entry 7455 is Designed for Elderly Residents of the Big Easy

Sustainable architecture that looks good and is realistically designed is one of my favorite things; this probably explains why I like Entry 7455 of the USGBC 2010 Natural Talent Design Competition so much.

Entry 7455 is a 880 square-foot home constructed entirely out of shipping crates, FSC-approved wood and solar panels. The home has a contemporary design and was created specifically for elderly residents of New Orleans. The four shipping containers that make up Entry 7455 are designed to withstand strong winds and rain, two features that make Entry 7455 ideal for residents of New Orleans.
