Global Emoji Tracker Maps

Silicon Feelings Tracks Emoji Icon Use on Twitter in Real Time

Sometimes when there just aren't words to express how you're feeling, you can accurately convey your emotions with the right emoji icon. Silicon Feelings is a project that maps the use of emojis on Twitter in real time, as shown on a spinning globe. Although the emojis pop up on the 3D Earth without any context, you don't have to be fluent in any particular language to know when someone is sad in Spain, or elated in Britain—with emojis, the language is pretty universal.

Silicon Feelings is still a work in progress and there are some bugs that are still being worked through, including that the site is currently limited to tracking about 400 emoji icons for the purposes of keeping everything streamlined.
