Alaskan Brewing Company, whose founding back in 1986 enables it to lay claim to the title of being the oldest continuously operating brewery in the state of Alaska, has launched a delicious new year-round offering in the form of the 'Juneau Juice' hazy IPA.
Named after the brewery's home base of Juneau, this particular hazy IPA makes use of a quadrant of hops of the Strata, Mosaic, Citra and Sultana varieties, with liberal use of dry-hopping and the inclusion of unmalted grains elevating the hazy credentials of this IPA. Meanwhile, the fruity layers that are lost in many hoppy beers are intelligently preserved due to the high concentration of late-stage hops which help to curb the bitterness quotient.
Scotty McHenry, brewer at Alaskan Brewing Company and the man behind the 'Juneau Juice' hazy IPA, said the idea behind this beer was to create "a crushable, juicy, biscuity IPA that I could share with my coworkers for our shift beer in the break room," with the dual deployment of Simcoe and Victory malt inspired by past pale ale offerings.
