Maurizio Anzeri Twists Vintages Photographs to Modern Art

Using found vintage photographs, artist Maurizio Anzeri creates modern (albeit strange) art using embroidery.

The images by Maurizio Anzeri use brightly colored thread against the black and white or sepia images. The result is a definitely unique and somewhat creepy photograph. Twisting the embroidery around the eyes of the images the vintage images become masked crusaders. Take a look at the uncomfortable but one-of-a-kind images.

Implications - Western society is extremely saturated with images, rendering consumers desensitized to their meaning. However, images that are atypical in their design or combine mixed mediums are bolder and more memorable to potential consumers. Companies wishing to appeal to their desired demographics should design images for their products or advertisements that stray form the ordinary.
