Embodiment by Eric Franklin is Anatomically Delicate

The art installation titled Embodiment by Eric Franklin will have people's jaws dropping. It is a glass skeleton that looks like it is being repeatedly struck by lightening. Blue light courses inside the bones. It is not lightening or magic that causes the skeleton to glow an eerie blue light. The hollowed bones have been filled with ionized krypton that shed a neon glow.

Created over a span of two years, Embodiment by Eric Franklin took over 1000 hours to complete. The Portland-based sculptor built it using 10 separate units of glass formed from borosilicate glass tubing. In addition to the already delicate nature of this sculpture, every glass tube used, and there were hundreds, had to be carefully sealed tight or else the ionized krypton risked contamination, the consequence of which would be no glow.
