Taiwan-based 7428 Design Studio makes use of extremely eco-friendly packaging materials and practices for the development of a gift set for luxury hotel W Taipei. The creatives set out to generate an aesthetically pleasing, sustainable and functional container for mooncakes — a traditional Chinese bakery product that is eaten during the Mid-Autumn Festival.
As eco-friendly packaging materials, 7428 Design Studio uses recycled bottles and pulp. For one, the glasses that are included in the gift box feature a lid with a cocktail recipe on it, "making mooncakes even more enjoyable." This builds on the interactivity of the design. Secondly, the uncolored pulp makes up a rough-edged box that can be later reused to store jewelry or a container in which to grow small plants.
