Easy-Peel Beef Packaging

Cargill's New 'EZ Peel' Packaging Eliminates Consumers' Contact with Meat

In response to a consumer survey that indicated people prefer not to touch raw meat when preparing it, Cargill has developed a new 'EZ Peel' packaging for its 1-lb ground beef-chubs. The packaging is not only more hygienic, but it also offers consumers a mess-free cooking solution.

Cargill's EZ Peel packaging was created using new technology developed by Bemis Company. Unlike the brand's original packaging for its 1-lb ground-beef chubs, the new sleeve is designed so that consumers can remove it without coming into contact with the raw meat. This is a benefit for consumers in terms of food safety and also cutting down on prep-time. As Cargill's brand manager Katie Blick-White explains, "We want to provide consumers with choices in the meat case that meet their desires and through ongoing consumer research."
