Dual-Mode Buses
Switch on roads to railway tracks
Japan always comes up with the idea to reduce traffic jams. We've heard about batteries powered tram by Kawasaki. Now, Hokkaido Railway Company has developed the dual-mode vehicle (DMV). It's a hybrid minibus that can runs both on roads and railway tracks. With the extra wheels hidden under the chassis, the bus is able to run faster than a traditional bus once it's on the railway track. Therefore, it's easily to avoid traffic jams. The DMV is expected to start in April 2007.
