Making Gaming More Expensive Than It Already Is

Downloadable Content, or DLC for short, is a new but controversial trend in gaming. It is defined as items, locations, means of transportation, etc. a gamer can obtain to make the gaming experience easier, more exciting and interesting. Before PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 were released this trend was unheard of because earlier games would allow gamers to unlock extra content for free (once you beat a level or make it through a challenge.) It may sound exciting to gain access to new weapons, equipment, and worlds of the game but now these treats do not come without a price. Now, gamers must pay to have these cool new elements. In some cases games will include an option to purchase DLC later on in the game so they can get extra content. It really comes down to how passionate gamers are and if they’re willing to pay to get more out of their game.
