Dixons and Carphone Warhouse Introduce Smart Tech Departments

UK electronic goods retailer Dixons and Carphone Warehouse have teamed up to introduce Smart Tech departments, a specially commissioned branch intended to highlight connectivity products. Recognizing that products with the ability to connect to multiple interfaces are becoming more prevalent in everyday life was a driving force in the department's creation.

Dave Ward, Head of Innovation at Dixons, hopes that the specialized departments will open consumers' eyes to new possibilities in the tech world. The departments are made up of four categories -- smart gadgets, smart heart and fitness, smart watches and smart home.

Examples of featured products in each category are things like golf swing motion sensors, blood pressure monitors and music streaming devices that can be operated from a smartphone or tablet.
