This New Tesco Initiative Focuses on Disability Inclusion

A new initiative is being launched by Tesco in the UK in a bid to help enhance its disability inclusion protocol and help shoppers who might need a bit of help with their in-store experience.

The initiative will see sunflower lanyards offered to shoppers as a way to signify to store staff that they might require additional assistance during their visit. This will also act as a reminder to staff to help with packing bags, speak face-to-face to allow for lip reading and much more. The initiative has been announced along with the implementation of more Changing Places toilets that accommodate shoppers who require extra equipment to comfortably use the facilities.

Tesco Chief Customer Officer Alessandra Bellini spoke about the disability inclusion initiatives saying, "We work hard to ensure that everyone feels welcome at Tesco and want our stores to be as accessible as possible. It’s clear how important Changing Places and sunflower lanyards are to our customers who need them and we’ll continue to explore ways we can do more for customers with disabilities."
