Paritotic Palette Installations

Designer Paul Cocksedge’s ‘Palette’ Commemorates National Flags

Designer Paul Cocksedge recently created a beautiful technicolor installation called ‘Palette’ for the Great Festival of Creativity to commemorate the historical ties between Turkey and Britain. The installation features colors from both the Turkey and British flags reconstituted as transparent light spot circles.

The ‘Palette’ installation is cleverly made up from a series various sized circles of transparent plastic. The circles come in a wide variety of color hues such as blue, purple, orange and red to pay tribute to the long cultivated history between Turkish and British nations. The circles are meant to represent the flags fading and dissolving into one another as they become colonially intertwined. The colored spots are layered on a glass panel so they seem as though they are chromatic sun spots floating in the sky.
