Restored Decorative Facades

GRT Architects Repaired the Exterior of New York's Fashion Tower

From the mid-2000s until now, it seems that developers and architects in metropolitan cities have been creating rather alienating towering glass buildings, so it is always endearing to witness renovation initiatives of historic decorative facades. New York's Fashion Tower hired local design firm GRT Architects to rework the building's lobby interior and in the process, requested that the beautifully carved decorative facade be touched up.

The Fashion Tower is located within the city's Garment District and it is a 23-storey building by architect Emery Roth that subtly boasts a fusion between the Renaissance and Art Deco movements. GRT Architects used original drawings of the design, borrowed from Columbia University, to guide it in the restoration process of the decorative facade.
