Topography-Inspired Structures

The De Lemos Restaurant & Guesthouse Relies on Natural Topography

In response to a request for a conceptual design for a high-end gourmet restaurant, Portugal-based architecture and design firm Carvalho Araújo Arquitecturae Design has designed the 'De Lemos' Restaurant and guesthouse. The building follows meandering twists and turns that are in tune with the natural landscape. A concrete structure takes on the form of the contours of the land where the open vineyard is located.

The 'De Lemos' structure contains a restaurant and a guesthouse that relates to the region's wine production. The guest house and private suites are contained in a concrete structure that is intimate as well as stylish. The element of exclusivity is in its bedroom, incorporating house elements into the traditional bedroom.

The structure allows the elements of the environment to seep into its spaces by bringing natural light into every part of the construction.
