Comfortable Creased Seating

The Curytiba Chair Strives for Ergonomics by a Novel Means of Assembly

It is not necessary to apply upholstery or place cushions down upon the surfaces of the Curytiba Chair, for the designers conceived this piece with the comfort of the spine in mind. Ralph Voigt and Alessandro Toricelli of Brazil attempted the simple trick of severing the seat and backrest in half, angling them inwards slightly.

Based on an assembly that mimics the spread pages of an open book, this perch makes room for your backbone and tailbone so that you press against it with your shoulder blades, your ribcage and your sitting bones. A symmetrical posture is encouraged, making this bare lumber furnishing surprisingly cozy.

The Curytiba Chair is built with solid wood by Studio 50, with the option of a polyurethane paint finish.
