24 Degree Studio's 'Crater Lake' Encourages Social Interaction

The 'Crater Lake' public area introduces a touch of the fantastical and futuristic to an outdoor section in Kobe, Japan, specifically Port Island. As part of the Shitsurai Art International Competition, Crater Lake was one of the winning projects to be installed in the city. Simple yet surreal, the concept encourages the imagination of its users while blending in beautifully with its natural surroundings.

Created by 24 Degree Studio, the Crater Lake art installation is a multi-use environmental setup that serves as a meeting place and seating for visitors to enjoy a 360 degree view of the space. Crater Lake also embraces social interaction, "which was the important catalyst that brought Kobe residents to revitalize their city after the disaster," according to the designers.
