Office AIO Debuts a Striking Aesthetic for a Contemporary Noodle Bar

Located in Beijing, Chubby Girl is a contemporary noodle bar with a stunning design aesthetic, boasting a stepped terrazzo floor, mirrored walls that boast a foggy quality, strip lighting, and more. Suspended between sensibilities and modernism, the establishment reaches a balance thanks to the creative directive of Office AIO who decided to "mimic the urban makeup of the city of Chongqing" which is located in south-west China. The design firm drew inspiration from the photographic work of Nadav Kander, Mark Horn, and Tim Franco. The stepped "chunky grey terrazzo plinths," for example, are meant to architecturally evoke "the sharp rises and falls of Chongquing's terrain.

The contemporary noodle bar is divided into three sections—a 55-square-meter kitchen, a 15-square-meter prep area, and an 80-square-meter dining area.
