EeStairs has developed Stairfinder — a digital design and specification tool that supports architects in creating complex staircases without compromising between formal ambition and technical feasibility.
The Stairfinder tool allows architects to explore typologies, forms, and materials through bespoke reference projects, refine concepts using filters by stair type and structure, and secure the design phase by drawing on proven solutions for complex geometries.
A well-designed staircase can shape space, modulate light, influence the perception of an interior, and become the defining architectural gesture of a project. EeStairs’ helpful Stairfinder innovation was demonstrated in the Schoonderwoerd project in the Netherlands. At this site, a two-part staircase transformed a closed, uninviting entrance into an open, bright, and welcoming space. The complex staircase design featured five broad steps in oiled walnut paired with a narrow, asymmetrically positioned spiral staircase in steel with a bronze finish. In addition, the project made use of EeStairs' proprietary EeSoffit and EePaint treatments, which ensured that the surfaces are both aesthetically pleasing and durable and easy to maintain.
