The Thatchers Community Orchard Project is Giving Away 500 Trees

The Thatchers Community Orchard Project will be giving away 500 apple trees in 2024 to help communities create their own orchards and provide access to fresh fruit on a local basis.

The cider brand is taking applications from 50 organizations in the UK starting today through Monday, February 5, 2024 which will see the lucky ones chosen receiving a bundle of 10 trees each. The trees being donated to the various groups will be of the Katy, Scrumptious and Bramley apple varieties, and will come with instructions on how they should be planted and cared for alongside a commemorative plaque to be placed nearby.

Martin Thatcher spoke on the Thatchers Community Orchard Project saying, "This project is all about community. It’s about understanding how apple trees can not only bring joy, but can act as a means of bringing people together. Whether that’s planting the trees and contributing to the growth of orchards, learning about the lifecycle of a delicious apple, or coming together to press fruit at harvest time, apple trees are a wonderful way to create community spirit."
