French design group Collectif Scale has created a mesmerizing, kinetic installation for the 'Constellations Festival' in Metz, France. The installation, titled 'Flux,' combines architectural structures, new technologies, and 48 beams of light to create a synchronized performance of light patterns that react to music.
Unpredictable by design, the light show responds to rhythm, bouncing between moments of repetition and chaotic states. In this sense, the installation gives viewers the feeling that piece is alive and breathing. In addition, viewers are provided the ability to interact directly with the piece via a controller, making it all the more personal and lifelike.
The 1.5 meter long light beams, when coupled with "micro variations of phases, time delays, speeds, and amplitude," create a structure that is always "evolving," says Collectif Scale.
