French artist Seb Janiak’s cloudy sky photography lets us see massive expansions of celestial smoke surrounding light tunnels in the sky. ‘The Kingdom’ series was inspired by traditional oriental texts such as the Tibetan Book of the Dead and manuals of Chinese medicine. It was also inspired by the history of Western art.
The series began in 2008 and the digital matte paintings of turbulent skies show the artist’s desire to look beyond the surface and see the struggle between light and nothingness. The light in the cloudy shaft almost beckons us to take the journey to discover a revelation of inspiration, beauty and understanding.
Sky photography is always breathtaking because it causes us to look back at the raw elegance of nature that many miss in the midst of busy daily life.
