Clinton Felcker Re-Imagines Star Wars Characters in Feudal Japan

Darth Vader’s helmet always did look as though it belonged in feudal Japan, which is probably why he transitioned so naturally from a science fiction villain to an ominous samurai in these Clinton Felcker illustrations. And it’s not just Darth Vader who gets this ancient Japanese makeover; Felcker also rendered Yoda, Boba Fett and a couple of Stormtroopers in this inspired style and the results are more badass than all of George Lucas’ prequels combined.

Funnily enough, Clinton Felcker depicts Yoda smoking a cigarette. He also illustrates several of the villains with anachronistic technology such as Darth Vader’s menacing red glowing katana, helmet visors, as well as breathing apparatuses. Aside from those, however, Felcker actually stays pretty true to the look of ancient Japanese armor.
