Glossy Organic Lamps

Abel Carcamo Segovia's Clay Lamps are Earthy, But Polished

Often working with materials like wood and wicker, these clay lamps by Abel Cárcamo Segovia are a bit of a departure for the Chile-based industrial designer. The 'Terracota' series lamps are made with baked clay that's been paired with wood and aluminum. Although all of these materials can be refined into regular geometric shapes quite easily, these lamps are lose and free, adopting meandering organic forms.

The lamps are shaped in such a way so that they still look wet and soft, as if you could pinch them and still be responsible for the changes in their shape. However, the clay bases of the lamps are completely concealed with gold, black, white and metallic finishes, disguising the natural material with a high-gloss finish.
