Contrasting Circular Lamps

The 'Copycat' Desk Lamp is Made Up of Two Connected Spherical Orbs

London-based designer Michael Anastassiades created this circular lamp design that balances itself with two contrasting elements.

Designed for Italian brand Flos, the 'Copycat' lamp consists of a large white sphere, connected to a smaller sphere made of shiny material. The two circular objects barely connect to one another, and by doing so create a contrasting effect that balances the lamp on a table effectively. The smaller orb on this circular lamp comes in a number of different coatings including 24-karat gold yellow, polished aluminium silver, shiny copper red or dark black powder.

The glass globe is hand-blown and holds an adjustable LED light that is controlled by a dimmer on the power cord. The light from the larger globe is also reflected ontp the smaller orb and makes for an interesting lighting effect.
