International arrivals are forcasted to exceed one billion in 2012. And there is a surge in people travelling to emerging economies (+4.4%). This number doubles the increase in travellers to advanced economy destinations (+2.2). This trend shows us that people are finding their way to destinations with less stable economies.
However, Europe is the fastest growing region for travel and accounts for over half of all international travellers. The Middle East, due to Arab Spring, saw a decline of 8% in travellers in 2012.
