Soothing Pediatric Hospitals

This Rwandan Children's Cancer Center has Soothing and Elegant Design

This elegantly designed children's cancer center is located in Kigali, Rwanda. Conceived by David Adjaye, the humanitarian architecture project involves the construction of a private regional pediatric hospital for the Eugene Gasana Jr. Foundation.

The 94 bed children's medical center will service Rwandans and other local Africans. It will also provide accommodations for outpatients who need to be close to the hospital and housing for doctors and nurses. The hospital design will reflect the surrounding cultural influences and be sustainability built with eco-conscious energy sources. The atmosphere will be soothing, relaxing and open in an effort to promote healing and support the families staying there. The community-serving initiative will also create new jobs, provide added healthcare infrastructure and enhance the medical community with education.
