When you imagine cheese makers, what comes to mind is probably something modern, metal and industrial looking. However, this could not be further from the opposite of what the Cheese Maker by van Studio Makkink & Bey looks like.
The van Studio Makkink & Bey collaborated closely with Indian craftspeople for this project, celebrating similarities between the long history the Netherlands and India have of making cheese by hand.
The cheese maker takes the shape of a tower, including cheese-making components like a juicer, jug and cutting board that have all been neatly stacked one on top of another. What gives the cheese-making tower a particularly interesting form is that each part is made from a slightly different material. This quirky cheese maker is now on display as part of Milan Design Week.
