CatchUp Supports One-on-One and Group Calls of Up to Eight

Facebook's experimental division, the NPE Team, launched CatchUp to help users in the US keep in touch with one another. The audio-only app shows when friends are available to chat as they come online, offering a way for friends and loved ones to stay in touch at times that work for both parties. The experimental app reminds of the simplicity of picking up the phone to call someone or even changing one's status to "available" in an instant messenger.

Although video chats are one of the most popular ways for people to stay in touch at the moment, CatchUp takes the pressure off of showing one's face on a screen with just an audio-based format. With the app, up to eight people can chat at once.
