This Smart Cardboard Box Design Uses 15% Less Material and No Tape

By making slight modifications to the classic cardboard box design, two college students at the Albert Nerken School of Engineering—Henry Wang and Chris Curro—were able to create a form that makes more sense and is a lot better for the environment.

Rather than requiring tape or other fasteners to hold the box together once folded, this reversible box is quick and easy to assemble using a series of interlocking flaps. overall, the shape uses 15% less cardboard than a traditional box. Playing up the speed at which this box can be assembled, the student design has been dubbed 'The Rapid Packing Container.' Ideal for small objects, this cardboard design is easily one that could be used over and over again until it is ready to be recycled.
