Open-Concept Coffee Shops

'Capriole Café' Features Roastery Equipment Out in the Open

The Dutch coffee company Capriole recently opened a new open-concept shop in The Hague called Capriole Café. Unlike other coffee shops, the cafe seeks to "promote and elevate coffee both figuratively and literally" with its unique layout.

Capriole Café is housed inside an old paint factory and puts a dramatic twist on the idea of an open-kitchen design. Instead of a coffee bar and some tables, the middle of the cafe is occupied by the company's production roastery, elevated just a step above the rest of the space. The idea behind the unique design was to not only create a unique visual, but also to encourage patrons to interact with the brand's master roaster Giancarlo Matarazzi. The store's unique layout also allows the cafe to host regular coffee education courses for the community.
