Just outside of Seoul in Munho-ri, Yangpyeong is the construction site of an egg-shaped chapel called the Cappella Ovi Egg Chapel. This small wooden chapel is on the side of a mountain and is meant for the carrying out of small, religious ceremonies.
The architect for this egg chapel is Andrew MacNair, who works and lives in his home in New York City. The chapel is currently under construction and is being built by a number of boat makers. The simplistic design for the chapel is rather complex and is meant to be a place of beginnings where baptisms and weddings can be held. It will also serve as a place of endings where funerals can be held.
The Cappella Ovi Egg Chapel stands 40 feet tall and was shipped in 12 vertical sections from New York to Korea.
