This Paperboard 'CanCollar' is Being Launched in Spain by Coca-Sola

Plastic can rings have been quite commonplace over the years in the packaging world, but new packaging initiatives like this paperboard 'CanCollar' are being launched to help make them a thing of the past. The new packaging solution has been announced by Coca-Cola European Partners and will be launched in Spain where it will prevent more than 18 tonnes of plastic from heading to the landfill on an annual basis. The packaging doesn't require the use of any glue or adhesives to make it highly recyclable after use.

Vice President of Sustainability at Coca-Cola European Partners Joe Franses spoke on the new paperboard CanCollar saying, "The agreement with WestRock exemplifies our clear commitment to reduce plastic in our secondary packaging. By the end of 2020, we will have removed more than 4,000 tonnes of hard to recycle plastic from our secondary packaging in Western Europe. It’s through collaborating on innovative packaging solutions like CanCollar that we are able to do this."
