Forest-Reflecting Buildings

The Cairns Botanic Gardens Visitors Centre is Mirror-Clad

Blending with its surrounding area, the Cairns Botanic Gardens Visitors Centre was designed by Charles Wright Architects.

The building is meant to serve the dual purpose of creating a gateway between the surrounding gardens whilst seamlessly existing in the midst of the greenery. Featuring a mixture of plants from both Australia and Southeast Asia, the garden's plant life is spectacular and reflected in the building's mirror-clad exterior.

In addition, the reflective facade is comprised of several panels, creating a fragmented image of the surrounding forest area. This camouflaging effect was inspired by the suit worn in the 1987 film Predator by the alien hunter. With such an interesting concept and design, the Cairns Botanic Gardens Visitors Centre is sure to captivate all park-goers' attention.
