Handmade Bicycle Kits

JIGLESS is a 3D-Printed Kit for Building a Bicycle at Home

Jeans, aluminium and 3D-printed parts are the odd components that the JIGLESS Kit uses for building a bicycle. The JIGLESS Kit contains a full set of pre-cut aluminum tubes and PLA-printed parts, transforming an item that would normally be built in a factory into something that a consumer can assemble with their own two hands. No heavy machinery is needed, but the most surprising part of the whole kit is that only one screw is needed to hold the entire bicycle together.

Where the denim comes in is with a composite material called denim micarta that's made from upcycling an old pair of jeans. This material is used to protect the joints on the bike and secure the 3D-printed parts in place. The Tel Aviv designers behind this project aptly have dubbed the JIGLESS Kit's fabrication process as "high-end homemade."
