Ever-amusing bubble wrap served as the inspiration for Danielle Romeril's Spring/Summer 2014 collection, as seen in several white bubble wrap dress fashions. From a distance, the pieces seem to have a unique quilted white lace texture, but upon closer inspection, the garments are translucent and papery, bearing a lot of resemblance to bubble wrap.
In addition to taking inspiration from this unconventional fashion material, Romeril also used performance tape to seal the designs of her Goretex jackets and create seams around the lace panels in the garments. Although the designer was advised that her big ideas would be a "Nightmare in production," Romeril's response was: "This is slow fashion, it's craft, we do it this way because it is beautiful this way. It makes the pieces special, it makes it worth spending money on a young designer as the big guns don't operate like that."
