Remixed Award Show Statues

Damien Hirst Gives the Brit Award Trophy a Makeover

Damien Hirst has taken liberties with the Brit Awards statue, just in time for the awards to be given out on February 20th.

It's not clear whether these remixed statues will be the actual award given out at the show or whether this project is purely art-based. In any event, these statues are pretty daring. Hirst is the third artist to take on the challenge of redesigning this statue, following in the footsteps of Grand Dame Vivienne Westwood (in 2011) and Sir Peter Blake (in 2012).

Every adaptation of the Brit Awards statue is based on the same actual sculpture shape, which is that of a slim female (presumably a young image of Queen Elizabeth.) Hirst chose to go against formal, regal sensibilities by making the statue all white with colored polka dots.
