Enchantingly Botanical Typography

Alice Mourou Creates Typography Out of Fresh Flowers

A Moscow-based digital art director took her skills out of the digital realm and applied them to her physical project of botanical typography. The director, Alice Mourou, meticulously created her project, which is still underway, out of natural fresh florals.

Every leaf and flower used is precisely arranged on and around thin florist's wire to give the illusion that the flowers are growing from a vine. The "vine" is then twisted into letters of the alphabet and numbers.

The enchanting project titled 'Blossom Type' is truly a refreshing take on typical typography, which has been heavily created via computer in recent years. The only thing that the artist does for the project through the use of a computer is share her work. She records the making of every letter and number in a YouTube video to showcase the painstaking hard work that goes into each one.
