The boardwalk is a staple in beachfront construction; it is a method of unifying separate elements of architecture and landscape. This vacation home appropriates the boardwalk in a residential setting, entwining the structure with the site.
The site is home to two architecturally significant (and protected) Geller structures that the client wished to incorporate into the property design. To satisfy this wish, the architects ensured that the path took both visual and spatial factors into account by raising it in the form of Geller's architecture. The path takes a serpentine route from the Geller House to the home's swimming pool. Ultimately, the boardwalk engages disparate elements to create a harmonizing environment.
