NBA athlete Rui Hachimura continues to celebrate his Japanese African heritage with new pieces to join his Black Samurai collection. The Washington Wizards player taps Abasi Rosborough to work on a special kimono design.
He talks to HYPEBEAST about the new design, "I wanted to show my uniqueness in being Japanese-African and use this platform to create something special, not only for myself but for all the mixed-race kids and people." He also drew some inspiration from the cherry blossom festival that started on March 20 and runs until April 11 in Washington, D.C. The kimono is a thoughtful design of the athlete's childhood, with a bespoke pattern that is created by artist DANGIUZ and printed in Japan.
