Generational Pocket Monster Pics

Beyx Illustrates the Starter Pokemon from Each Successive Game

With each new Pokemon game that comes out, the difficult decision of choosing your starting companion must be made and deviantART user Beyx illustrates all the cuddly critters video gamers can begin their adventure with in this series of generational Pokemon fan art.

These Beyx creations are special in that they simplify the designs of the already cute characters into even more adorable versions of themselves over swatch-likem pastel-colored backgrounds. And if you don't care much for the starters, Beyx also drew several of the biggest names in the Pokemon franchise just for the hell of it.

Looking at Beyx's work, however, does make me sad for newer generations of Pokemon players as the new creatures can't top the originals of Squirtle, Charmander and Bulbasaur. They even created a fire pig -- AKA bacon -- and still I refuse to play newer incarnations of the pop culture phenomenon.
