This Design Extends the Bauhaus Museum with a Stacked Toothpick-Like Tower

Architect Volker Staab recently won the design competition to create an extension on the Bauhaus museum in Germany. The design will include underground galleries as well as a five-storey tower that looks like it could come crumbling down any second.

The tower's modern design is very unique, almost appearing to have giant white toothpicks holding the floors together. The five concrete floors will appear to be levitating, merging a natural bamboo-like design with a futuristic look. The open spaces are meant to generate a social environment made for conversation and sharing of artistic ideas.

The modernist Bauhaus is one of the most famous design schools, dating all the way back to 1919. This new extension will allow for the vast number of visitors to be accommodated for as it only grows in popularity.
