42nd St Transformed Into Gotham

Mezco Toyz transformed 42nd Street in New York into Gotham City on Tuesday as they revealed their new line of action figures based on the 1966 Classic Batman tv show. With a real life, full size Batmobile shooting flames and racing down the street, the toys were delivered to Ripley's by Batman himself, who then stayed to pose for pictures with his adoring fans. Eventually he was joined by Catwoman (who's plan to steal the toys was foiled) as well as by hundreds of children wearing capes. In a town where promotions and press events happen daily, this was a stand out event. Never have so many people been so happy, and the fact that Mezco actually gave away free toys just made the whole event that much more amazing. Truly a Bat-tastic day at Ripley's Believe It Or Not Odditorium with Batman and Mezco!

Implications - Businesses should look to this event for a way to promote new items to the public. Play on nostalgic childhood memories, and offer free merchandise combined with a unique experience.
