Native Weaving Furniture

Carolina Ortega Designed the Bamba Collection Inspired by Colombian Art

Carolina Ortega is a Colombian industrial designer and she drew inspiration from her native heritage to create the Bamba collection. The furniture collection recalls the traditional Colombian art of weaving and the word "bamba" is an indigenous term for "majestic tree." The name is to represent growth and change, which Ortega links back to the concept of experiencing a change in seasons that create the person who we are.

The Bamba collection enables users to reflect upon themselves through the design of textiles woven by hand and inspired by Colombian culture. This infusion is meant to represent balance, specifically the balance that grounds us in ourselves and the world around us. The furniture is constructed from a blend of materials including wood, aluminum and plastic in a range of colorful textiles.
