The Conceptual 'Little I' Baby Health Monitor is Noninvasive

The conceptual 'Little I' baby health monitor has been designed as a solution for parents to use with their newborn to track for problems and support their wellness during the neonatal period. The device has a noninvasive design that works by being positioned onto the foot of the child and will go to work tracking their health, while also communicating with the parents if any issues come about. This comes in the form of audible sounds and visual indicators that will let them know if a child requires immediate emergency care, which could in turn reduce the occurrence of avoidable death amongst newborns.

The conceptual 'Little I' baby health monitor has a low-cost design targeted towards developing nations in Africa and Southern Asia where approximately 87.7% of infant deaths within the first month of life occurred during 2018, according to UNICEF. The solution is the design work of Chris Barnes and others of Cambridge Consultants in the UK.
